He influenced many students who became prominent actors, directors and producers, including Kenneth Nkosi, Mpho Molepo, Pule Hlatshwayo, Harriet Manamela, Mncedisi Shabangu and Ronnie Nyakale. And you cant speak about South African theatre and television without mentioning this talented artist's name. That's the Doyen of theatre Ramolao Makhene who began acting in the early 70s when he was working in the library at Wits University and joined the Workshop' 71 theatre company. Now one of the many students who he imparted his knowledge at the Market Theatre Laboratory, Ziphelele Speech Mayiji has established a festival in his honour. Mayiji is the Artistic Director of the Ramolao Makhene Storytelling Festival and he joins us now to tell us more about the event.
