AWU affair to linger over summer
 
The AWU slush fund scandal is unresolved after furious debate on the last day of parliament yesterday.

Unrelenting (Oz): TONY Abbott has declared he will not back off his allegation that Julia Gillard broke the law and will pursue a judicial inquiry into the Australian Workers Union "slush fund" affair. But the Prime Minister said yesterday the Opposition Leader had gone too far, failed to produce any hard evidence of a crime and should apologise.

His honour (Daily Tele): FEDERAL Court judge Bernard Murphy has been drawn into the Australian Workers Union scandal, with police informant Ralph Blewitt claiming the former lawyer was present at a meeting which paved the way for a key entity to be established.

Attack (SMH): JULIA GILLARD says Tony Abbott is too negative, sexist and lightweight to run the country as she seeks to turn the Coalition's handling of the Slater & Gordon allegations to her advantage.

Allegation (AFR): Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has accused Prime Minister Julia Gillard of "unethical conduct and possibly unlawful behaviour" for her role in setting up a union slush fund for her then partner in 1992 and has called for a judicial inquiry.
